SUMMARY:The Night of the Stars of San Lorenzo
DESCRIPTION:On Monday, August 10, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, the historic center of Abano Terme will be closed to traffic to host“La Notte delle Stelle di San Lorenzo,”a free event dedicated to the city’s patron saint and the most enchanting night of the summer.\nThe heart of the city will be transformed into a vast, sprawling festival featuring live music, dance performances, street performers, activities for children and families, stargazing, light installations, and an atmosphere inspired by the stars and cultures of the world.\nThe program will kick off on Sunday, August 9, at 9:00 p.m., with a concert in honor of St. Lawrence at the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, featuring Simone Gheller on the organ and music by Bach, Bonnal, Franck, Reger, Sowerby, and Vierne.\nOn Monday, August 10, at 7:00 p.m., a Solemn Mass will be held in the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, presided over by Monsignor Dante Carraro, Director of Medici con l’Africa CUAMM, in the presence of city officials. Following the Mass, the program will feature guided tours of the Cathedral, stories about the August night sky and Pietro d’Abano, readings, workshops, board games, meet-and-greets with the author, and stargazing sessions. \nThe streets and squares of the city center will also host numerous musical and performance events: vintage car shows, live concerts, vinyl DJ sets, jazz, swing, Latin rhythms, flamenco, bossa nova, soul, dance performances, illuminated stilt walkers, fire shows, theatrical performances, and art installations.\nThere will also be plenty of activities for children and families, including interactive storytime, creative workshops, magic shows, giant soap bubbles, face painting, balloon sculptures, and roaming entertainment. There will also be plenty of food and wine offerings, street food, local artisans and producers, open shops, and opportunities for socializing. \nThroughout the evening , the “Il Puffetto” tourist train will be running free of charge , providing continuous service between Piazza della Repubblica and Piazzetta Buja in Monteortone.\nIn case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to Tuesday, August 12.\nFree admission.\n
