Among the many typicalities that distinguish Montegrotto Terme, one stands out for its uniqueness: an episode, which, poised between history and fantasy, places a noble and noble seal on the town: “The Legend of Berta<\/strong>,” a pearl that history has delivered to the Sampietrina community.
\nFrom Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14, 2024<\/strong>, the streets, parks, and squares of Montegrotto Terme will come alive for the great festival “The Time of Berta<\/strong>,” with the Palio of the Six Contrade<\/strong> of Montegrotto Terme.<\/div>\n
Involving more than 400 costumers<\/strong> in the guise of armies, princes, castellans and commoners, all are non-professional actors who take on the roles of ancient characters with great enthusiasm, excitement and passion. And behind the scenes there are many citizens who prepare and preserve costumes, assign roles, and take care of the organization. <\/div>\n

In the heart of the medieval arena, the valiant knights of the six districts will compete in a spectacular showdown. Between blows, maneuvers and breathtaking duels, they will demonstrate courage, strength and skill to win honor and glory. An unmissable reenactment that ignites the spirit of chivalric tradition! <\/p>\n

Relive the ancient challenge between the six contrade of Montagnon: the knights, riding their steeds, will compete for the honor of winning the Palio in a test of skill, courage and speed. They will have to grab the spindle from the hands of the commoner Berta and carry it, with dexterity and pride, as a gift to the queen. <\/p>\n

\nGrand Medieval Historical Procession through the Streets of the City – <\/strong>A journey through the splendors, symbols and traditions of the past. An impressive costume parade passes through the streets of the ancient contado de Montagnon, evoking the ancient splendors of medieval times. Dames, nobles, armigers, knights, commoners, musicians and flag-wavers, each in their own role, bring to life a living picture that tells the story and traditions of the six districts of ancient Montegrotto Terme. Amid banners in the wind, the sounds of drums and the ringing of clarions, the procession accompanies visitors in a timeless atmosphere, rich in colors, symbols and rituals. An evocative experience that combines memory, identity and collective participation, in the beating heart of the medieval festival.
