Max Pechstein at Palazzo Zabarella in Padua

For the first time in Italy, Palazzo Zabarella is dedicating a major exhibition to Max Pechstein, a leading figureof German Expressionism and a member of the famous group Die Brücke. The exhibition invites visitors to discover an artist capable of transforming landscapes, portraits, and scenes from everyday life into images of extraordinary emotional intensity.

The works express a longing for freedom, a deep connection with nature, the allure of traveling to the paradisiacal destinations of the South Seas—places also visited by Gauguin—and the ongoing search for an authentic and innovative artistic language. Energetic brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and simple forms become the means to give voice to the soul and the deepest emotions.

The exhibition offers a not-to-be-missed opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the most revolutionary periods in 20th-century European art, through an exhibition that captures the full modernity and expressive power of Max Pechstein.
