VENICE ACCESS FEE – Regulations and Calendar 2025
Regulation for the establishment and governing of the entry fee, with or without carrier, to the old city of the city of Venice and other smaller lagoon islands
After the 2024 trial, the “Access Fee” for entry to Venice will be applied in 2025 as well. As in the previous year, payment of the fee is required only on certain days of the year, 54 in total, with a fixed amount of 5 or 10 euros, and exemptions for certain categories of people
The entry fee is applied as an alternative to the tourist tax and must be paid by every person accessing the Old City, subject to the following exclusions or exemptions.
For the year 2025, the entry fee will NOT be applied to the smaller islands, including Venice Lido (including Alberoni and Malamocco), Pellestrina, Murano, Burano, Torcello, Sant’Erasmo, Mazzorbo, Mazzorbetto, Vignole, S. Andrea, La Certosa, S. Servolo, S. Clemente, Poveglia…
It is NOT due by those transiting Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto or the Maritime Station, without accessing the Old City.
Exemption also for visitors to the Venice Boat Show (30/05-02/06) and participants in the Vogalonga (08/06).
The amount:
5 € for those who book by the fourth last day of their arrival, 10 € for those who book from the third day prior to the visit.
The Access Fee must be paid by every individual, over the age of 14 (unless they fall into the categories of exclusions and exemptions).
In general, the contribution will be charged to day visitors. Children under the age of 14 are exempt from the contribution, but must be registered on the portal https://cda.ve.it
NOTES: The amount is UNIFIED and will not be subject to reductions. For the year 2025 an attendance threshold above which to apply a surcharge on the entry fee has NOT been identified.
Final calendar dates and times
The entrance fee to enter the city will be required for only 54 days a year, those days when a very high tourist influx to the City is expected
Here are the days when it will be compulsory to book entry to Venice.

The hours when you must have a ticket to enter the historic center are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Collection of payment and issuance of Ticket
Directly from the Municipality of Venice, either through a dedicated web-app at https://cda.ve.it, and at desks or electronic kiosks.
The “heart” of the system is a multichannel and multilingual platform, created by Venis SpA, at the following address: https://cda.ve.it from which you can obtain the title (QR Code) to be shown in case of checks. This title certifies the payment of the Fee or the exclusion/exemption condition.
The platform will be active from January, 2025.
WARNING: Evidence of payment of the entry fee or of the exclusion or exemption status should be retained and shown upon request to inspection personnel
Control and assessment provision
The Municipal Administration may use the tools provided for by the regulations for the recovery of evasion and avoidance and in particular carry out checks, inspections and site visits through authorized personnel, in the principal points of access to the City.
Fine from 50 euros to 300 euros (+10 euros of the entry fee), with the possibility of reporting under the Italian Criminal Code and special laws on the subject to anyone who makes false declarations, and falsification of documents in the cases provided for by the Regulation.
If they are not paid within the term outlined in the notice served, the recovery of the amounts is enforced in accordance with the provisions of current tax regulations.
Exclusions and Exemptions with reservation
Exclusions
RESIDENTS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF VENICE will be able to prove their condition in an easy way. Those born in Venice can also show their ID.
PROPERTY OWNERS NOT RESIDING IN THE CITY and their family will have to register on the platform to obtain a long QR Code (if in good standing with IMU property tax payment).
Exemptions
For the day visit to Venice on the days when the trial is active the following will have to BOOK (but are exempt from the Entry Fee):
– Tourists who are host in the Municipality of Venice, temporary residents, Veneto residents, children under 14, people with certified disabilities and accompanying people, those in need of medical examinations or therapies, accompanying people or visitors of hospitalized patients, athletes of CONI sporting events in the Old City, tenants, spouses, from first- to third-removed relatives and people visiting residents of the Old City (non-exhaustive list, complete list under art. 5 of the Regulation).
Why the entrance fee to Venice?
Venice is the only city of its type in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site representing a cultural and natural asset of exceptional value, demanding its preservation and transmission to future generations.
Every year millions of tourists visit the city, circulating through the increasingly crowded calli or by waterbuses whose navigation is increasingly congested, causing safety, hygiene, environmental and social problems; thus the quality of life of residents but also of the tourists themselves suffers.
A sustainable tourism – not altering the natural and artistic environment, and not obstructing the development of other social and economic activities in harmony with the daily life of residents – is necessary to preserve the extraordinary beauty and uniqueness of Venice.
#EnjoyRespectVenezia is the City of Venice’s awareness campaign launched during the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and designed to direct visitors towards the adoption of responsible and respectful behaviour towards the environment, landscape, artistic beauties and identity of Venice and its inhabitants. The objective is to raise awareness of tourist impact, with the belief that responsible travelling can contribute to sustainable development.
In line with the goals of this campaign, it was therefore planned to implement the paid-entry measure to alleviate the level of tourist crowding only for a few particularly critical days a year, for less than 8 hours a day, and going to affect only the excess of daily tourism without penalizing those who stay in the city for more days instead.
The intended result is the rescheduling of tourist flows by spreading daily tourism over more “convenient” and less congested days.
