Helium – when a musician laughs
Playing and laughing with music and songs. Easy task for Elio and his band of very young virtuosos who, after the great success of Ci vuole orecchio, are now having fun exploring and reinventing that immense seriously comic repertoire on the borderline between song and disenchantment that, especially around the 1960s, ran through Italian music, song, cabaret and theater.
From Fo to Gaber, from Jannacci to Cochi and Renato, from Flaiano to Marcello Marchesi, plus many, many others, a generation of eccentric and countercultural artists who surprised and entertained everyone from experimentalists to the general public by reinventing a musical genre full of eccentric and amusing “lighthearted songs.”
That is what this show aims to do, rediscovering and renewing today those ingenious, innovative, nonconformist cues, and also that creative freedom.
Because it is good to be there “when a musician laughs.”
