From Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14, 2024, the streets, parks, and squares of Montegrotto Terme will come alive for the great festival “The Time of Berta,” with the Palio of the Six Contrade of Montegrotto Terme.

A plunge into the heart of the Middle Ages! In a lively medieval village, the sounds of artisan workshops resound, the smoke of a carefully reconstructed military encampment rises, and traveling shows come to life to enchant young and old alike. It is an immersive experience that transports visitors back in time, amid ancient crafts, tastes of yesteryear and stories that come alive before your eyes.

Palio of the six horse-riding districts
by the Friends of the Long Brenta Horse Group
Relive the ancient challenge between the six contrade of Montagnon: the knights, riding their steeds, will compete for the honor of winning the Palio in a test of skill, courage and speed. They will have to grab the spindle from the hands of the commoner Berta and carry it, with dexterity and pride, as a gift to the queen.

Grand Medieval Historical Procession through the Streets of the City – A journey through the splendors, symbols and traditions of the past. An impressive costume parade passes through the streets of the ancient contado de Montagnon, evoking the ancient splendors of medieval times. Dames, nobles, armigers, knights, commoners, musicians and flag-wavers, each in their own role, bring to life a living picture that tells the story and traditions of the six districts of ancient Montegrotto Terme. Amid banners in the wind, the sounds of drums and the ringing of clarions, the procession accompanies visitors in a timeless atmosphere, rich in colors, symbols and rituals. An evocative experience that combines memory, identity and collective participation, in the beating heart of the medieval festival.
