M.C. Escher – All Masterpieces – Exhibition
An extraordinary exhibition presenting the work of an artist capable of transforming geometry and mathematics into pure art, through tessellations, optical illusions and impossible worlds, without forgetting his fundamental debut as a refined landscape painter, is coming to the Centro Culturale Altinate San Gaetano in Padua.
A not-to-be-missed event designed for adults and children, art and science enthusiasts, to discover (or rediscover) the unique work of one of the most fascinating geniuses of the 20th century.
Curated by Federico Giudiceandrea, among the world’s leading collectors and experts on Escher, the exhibition takes the visitor inside the imaginative and surprising universe of this extraordinary Dutch artist.
Born in 1898 in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, M.C. Escher was able to fuse art and mathematics into an unmistakable visual language that challenged perception and fascinated entire generations. Famous for his impossible visions, visual paradoxes, and infinite geometries, Escher has over time become an icon not only for mathematicians and scholars, but also for the general public, captivated by the visual and conceptual power of his works.
M.C. Escher’s creations represent an extraordinary meeting point between scientific thought and artistic imagination, profoundly influencing areas such as design, graphics, film, advertising, fashion and music, even today. Tessellations, metamorphoses, reflections, impossible architectures and geometric paradoxes will come to life in the spaces of the Centro Culturale Altinate San Gaetano, giving the public an experience of great wonder and amazement.
The exhibition, under the patronage of the Embassy and Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, sponsored by the City of Padua, is produced and organized by Arthemisia in collaboration the M.C. Escher Foundation, M.C. Escher Heritage and Maurits and is curated by Federico Giudiceandrea.
